French journalist covering protests held for ‘flouting visa norms’ in Srinagar

A French journalist has been arrested in Srinagar for allegedly flouting visa norms to cover anti-establishment protests, officials told HT on Sunday.

Inspector general of police (Kashmir range) Muneer Khan confirmed the development.
Sources said Paul Comiti, a well-known war correspondent employed by a French television channel, was trying to conduct a recce for a documentary film on pellet victims when he was arrested from Kothi Bagh on Saturday. Comiti had arrived on a business visa that did not allow him to undertake journalistic work, they added.
The French embassy has reportedly been informed about the arrest.
