Nuh violence: Gurugram MP meets PM Modi; says, ‘If both sides had arms…’
Nuh violence: Six people have died so far and 116 arrests have been made. Monu Manesar said he did not give any provocation and was not present at the rally.
Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh met PM Modi on Wednesday as Haryana witnessed unprecedented tension following a communal clash on July 31. The tension spread to other areas of Haryana including Gurugram. Six people -- 2 home guards and 4 civilians have died in the two-day violence which reached Gurugram from Nuh and Sohna. A total of 116 people have been arrested in the violence that started from a Hindu rally at Nuh on Monday. The rally was attacked by Muslims after videos claiming cow vigilante Monu Manesar and his team of people would be present at the rally went viral. In retaliation, the VHP-Bajrang Dal too attacked a mosque in Gurugram. Prohibitory orders were put in place to stop the situation from escalating though on Tuesday evening, there were incidents of fresh violence. The Haryana govt said the situation in the state was under control, while the VHP-Bajrang Dal took their protest in Delhi on Wednesday.

Neither gave any provocative speech, nor did I attend the rally: Monu Manesar on Nuh violence
On whether he spoke to PM Modi over Nuh violence, the minister said he spoke to PM on several issues, though he went to invite PM Modi to the inauguration of AIIMS in Haryana. On his earlier comment as to who carries sticks and swords to a religious rally, the MP said, “If both the sides were carrying arms, then it is a question of the investigation who provided them those arms. Haryana government will probe this.”
Conspiracy or fault of Bajrang Dal: Why CM and deputy CM are not on the same page
While Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday blamed a conspiracy behind the violence, deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala -- who is from BJP's ally JJP -- blamed the organisers of the rally for the tension. Dushyant said the organisers did not provide full information about the rally, the number of people going to turn up and that led to the tension.
Dushyant said the people of Mewat, now known as Nuh, always stood firmly with India and fought against the Mughals and also for Independence.
VHP-Bajrang rally in Delhi: No hate speech, directs SC
As VHP and Bajrang Dal are scheduled to stage protests at several places in Delhi on Wednesday, the matter came up before the Supreme Court. The top court refused to stop the rallies but directed the states to ensure law and order against hate speech. The application argued by senior advocate CU Singh informed the court 23 such rallies have taken place in Delhi since morning and few others expected in the evening in sensitive areas of the Capital. The Union was represented in the hearing by additional solicitor general SV Raju.
