Former Union minister Venkaiah Naidu was sworn in as the thirteenth vice president of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday morning.
President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath to 68-year-old Naidu at a grand ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet members, among others.
Soon after being elected to the post, Naidu said that he – as the chairman of the Rajya Sabha – would sincerely try to steer the functioning of the house without “fear or favour”, and uphold its dignity and decorum with the cooperation of all its members.
