Lok Sabha elections 2024 LIVE: A 99-year-old man named AK Raman Nair passed away shortly after casting his vote in the Lok Sabha polls at his home in Kerala's Kottayam district, news agency PTI reported.

Nair, a resident of Manakkunnu in Pala, had been battling age-related ailments for some time. 

He exercised his franchise on Saturday through the vote-from-home facility initiated by the Election Commission. He breathed his last just minutes after completing this civic duty.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 LIVE: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur has declared re-polling for the 11 polling booths in the inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency due to reported incidents of firing and clashes during the initial polling phase. 

According to the Manipur CEO, voting will take place at these stations on Monday, April 22. 

This decision comes in response to a directive from the Election Commission, which nullified the previous polls conducted on April 19. Manipur witnessed a voter turnout of 69.18% until 7 pm on Friday.

According to CEO's order, “The Election Commission of India has, under Sections 58(2) and 58A(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, directed that the poll taken on April 19 (Friday) in respect of 11 polling stations listed in the table below of 1-inner Manipur parliamentary constituency to be void and appointed April 22, 2024 (Monday) as the date for taking fresh poll at the said polling stations with hours of poll from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.”

Lok Sabha elections 2024 LIVE: The Opposition bloc INDIA leaders are scheduled to host an "Ulgulan rally" in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Sunday. 

"Ulgulan" translates to "rebellion." It refers to the historic Munda rebellion, also known as 'the Great Tumult,' led by Birsa Munda. The primary uprising occurred in the south of Ranchi between 1899 and 1900—the rebellion aimed to oust the British colonial rulers and establish Munda Raj or Munda rule.

Birsa Munda, a freedom fighter and tribal leader, left a mark of protest against British rule in India during the late nineteenth century. Hailing from the tribal regions of Bihar and Jharkhand, Birsa Munda's accomplishments are even more striking, considering he achieved them before he was 25.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 LIVE: On the INDIA Alliance's rally today in Ranchi, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji says, “This is a big rally and I don't think such a big rally would have ever taken place in Jharkhand. People are coming out in support of Hemant Soren; we are optimistic about the success of this rally...Jharkhand won't bow down and INDIA won't stop.”

Lok Sabha elections 2024 LIVE: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, speaking to the news agency ANI about the INDI alliance's rally today, stated that they are united in their fight against the "growing autocracy" of the BJP.

"Ranchi, Jharkhand: On the INDIA Alliance's rally, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi says, “My message is very clear that we are together in this fight against BJP's growing autocracy...They are not allowing the opposition to function properly; they are trying to silence the opposition. We are seeing a high inflation rate, joblessness and women not getting a safe environment...In the first phase of the election, not many people, but those who have come out to vote have come out to change these people (BJP), who have been showing this dictatorial tendency,” she said.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 LIVE: INDIA alliance leaders, including Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi, Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, and former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren's wife Kalpana Soren, will hold a public rally in Jharkhand's capital, Ranchi.

Lok Sabha election 2024 LIVE: Ruchi Veera, the Samajwadi Party candidate representing Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, expressed her condolences on the demise of BJP candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar.

“I pray to God that his soul rests in peace and gives his family the strength to bear this sadness. I stand with the family in these distressing times,” she said.

Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar, 72, passed away earlier today at AIIMS in Delhi. He was among the 12 candidates contesting in the electoral race for the Moradabad parliamentary constituency.

The constituency held its polls in the first phase on Friday.

Ashwini says, “Nowadays, the BJP is growing step by step because PM Narendra Modi, after 2014, has brought a lot of developments in India, and the people of Kasaragod and Kerala are the beneficiaries. After PM Modi became the prime minister, he brought drastic development in infrastructure. Not only infrastructure development, we have also got some schemes for the poor people.”

Lok Sabha election 2024 LIVE:PM Modi is scheduled to campaign for party candidate Lumbaram Choudhary in Bhinmal, Jalore, on April 21. Subsequently, he will hold a rally in Banswara on behalf of Congress turncoat party candidate Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya.

Lok Sabha election 2024 LIVE: The Election Commission of India on Saturday approved re-polling at 11 police stations in five assembly constituencies of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (IMPC)that went to polls in the first phase on April 19,officials said.

Repolling in these stations, spread in two districts-Imphal West and Imphal East of the strife-torn state, would be held from 7 am to 5 pm on April 22.
