Mild earthquake hits near Maharashtra's Nashik

The earthquake occurred at a latitude of 19.95 degrees north and longitude of 72.94 degrees east at a depth of 5 km.

An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 hit west of Nashik district in Maharashtra in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake was detected around 4am at a latitude of 19.95 degrees north and longitude of 72.94 degrees east, the agency said. The depth of quake was 5km below the ground.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:3.6, Occurred on 23-11-2022, 04:04:35 IST, Lat: 19.95 and Long: 72.94, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 89km W of Nashik, Maharashtra, India," tweeted National Center for Seismology.

There was no immediate report of any casualty or damage to property.

On Tuesday, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit Ladakh's Kargil district.

The epicentre of the tremor, recorded at 10.05 am, was 191 kilometers north of Kargil, the NCS said.

The quake in the earthquake prone Himalayan region was at a latitude of 36.27 degrees north and longitude of 76.26 degrees east at a depth of 10 km, it said.
