Mirroring winning trend, BJP retains Noida, Gzb seats

While Thakur Dhirendra Singh defeated SP-RLD candidate and four-time MP Avtar Singh Bhadana by 56,315 votes, winning what political experts said would be a tough fight in Jewar, Pankaj Singh set a record, garnering the second-highest victory margin in the state — 181,513 — against the SP’s Sunil Chaudhary in Noida.
Meanwhile, Noida’s incumbent MLA Pankaj Singh garnered 244,319 votes, which is 70.66% of the total votes polled in the constituency, winning by a margin of 181,513 votes over SP’s Sunil Chaudhary. Speaking to HT, Singh said Noida residents voted for development.
Tejpal Nagar, meanwhile, bested SP’s candidate Raj Kumar Bhati by a margin of 138,218 in Dadri, securing 218,068 votes — 61.4% of the constituency’s share.
Flanked by supporters outside the counting hall, Nagar said this win certifies that his work in the constituency has been appreciated.
The BJP also retained five seatsin Ghaziabad with all of its sitting MLAs securing their second consecutive win. The highest victory margin in the state was secured by BJP’s Sunil Sharma, the sitting MLA from Sahibabad, who secured a record win by a margin of 214,835 votes by defeating SP’s Amarpal Sharma.
According to ECI figures, Sharma’s victory margin was the highest among the five states (UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur) whose votes were counted on Thursday.
As per the official figures, Sharma secured 322,882 votes of the total 481,616 votes polled in Sahibabad assembly constituency, which also happens to be one of the biggest assembly seats in UP with a total of 1,020,386 voters.
“I give the entire credit of my victory to the leadership of PM Modi and CM Yogi and also our party workers,” Sharma said.
The BJP this time reposed faith in all their sitting MLAs for the five seats — Loni, Muradnagar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad and Modinagar.
Among other winners, BJP’s Nandkishor Gurjar won theLoni seat by a margin of 8,676 votes defeating Madan Bhaiya of the RLD. The Muradnagar seat was won by BJP’s Ajitpal Tyagi who trounced Surendra Kumar Munni of the RLD by a margin of 97,095 votes.
The Ghaziabad seat was won comfortably by BJP’s Atul Garg, UP’s state minister for health, by a margin of 105,537 votes after defeating Vishal Verma of the SP.
The Modinagar seat was won by BJP candidate Dr Manju Shiwach who defeated Sudesh Sharma of the RLD by a margin of 34,619 votes.
Spokesperson and leaders of the SP and Congress could not be reached for comments on the day’s results despite repeated attempts.
“The mandate has been given by people and we will now remain as opposition. However, RLD’s vote share and seats have increased this time,” said Trilok Tyagi, national general secretary of RLD.
