The detention of two budding entrepreneurs for eight hours by Patna police during the Bihar Entrepreneurship Summit at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna a couple of days back found echoes in the state legislative council on Thursday.
Raising the matter during the zero hour, BJP legislator Binod Narain Jha said it was a matter of concern that if one raised a question before the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, he is victimised. “This is autocracy,” he said.
Jha found support from senior party leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who said it must be investigated whether the detention was made at the behest of the CM or the police acted on its own? “If the detention was made by the police, action should be taken against the police official concerned,” he said.
The two entrepreneurs – Nemi Kumar (43) of Madhubani and Suresh Sharma of Begusarai – had raised their grievances before the CM, while he was speaking at the summit.
Prasad, who had made an online application for his start-up idea, was peeved at the failure of the industries department to inform applicants through return e-mail the status and reasons for non-selection of their proposals.
