Muzaffarnagar: Dalit labourer raped, murdered in paper mill

Police suspected that the deceased had been raped before being strangulated on Friday in the mill at Jansath road, where she worked as a labourer

A 38-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped and murdered at a paper mill owned by a BSP MLA in Muzaffarnagar, police said on Saturday.

Police suspected that the deceased had been raped before being strangulated on Friday in the mill at Jansath road, where she worked as a labourer.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, police said, adding that investigation is underway.

Police said they were searching for a labour contractor, Khurshid, who has been absconding since the incident.
