‘My sense of humour is intact but…’, PM Modi tells Akshay Kumar
“I used to lighten the moment if my father used to get angry in just a minute. I like to play with words even now. But now, things are misconstrued and half-baked sentences are used. But I am scared now what if …my intentions are not that.. and they are misused,” the Prime Minister said during the interview.Updated: Apr 24, 2019 12:03 IST
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he is wary of his words being “twisted and misinterpreted for TRPs” in an interview with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.
“I used to lighten the moment in a minute if my father used to get angry. I like to play with words even now. But now, things are misconstrued and half-baked sentences are used. But I am wary now, what if …my intentions are not that.. and they are misused,” the Prime Minister said during the interview.
“The issue is more with TRPs than social media,” he said.
“My sense of humour is intact. I still crack jokes during cabinet meetings,” the Prime Minister said.

The interview was conducted at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the residence of the Prime Minister in Delhi.
In the “candid and completely non-political freewheeling conversation”, the actor also asked the Prime Minister whether he ever wishes to spend time with his mother, his brother and other relatives. He also asked whether he eats mangoes and was actually a true Gujarati.
Akshay Kumar had hinted he was into something new on Monday before the interview was aired on Tuesday.
“Getting into an unknown and uncharted territory today. Doing something I have never done before. Excited and nervous both. Stay tuned for updates,” Akshay had tweeted on Monday.
Akshay Kumar later took to Twitter to clarify that he was not taking the plunge into politics after users began speculating what his tweet was all about.
“Grateful for all te interest shown in my previous tweet but just clarifying in light of some wild speculation, I am not contesting elections,” he had tweeted.
