Panchkula violence: Arguments on framing of charges against Honeypreet, others from Jan 11

Nearly 30 dera members, including Aditya Insan, the alleged mastermind of the conspiracy, are yet to be arrested.

The arguments on framing of charges and subsequent trial against Honeypreet and 14 others in connection with the Panchkula violence on August 25 will start from January 11 in the court of additional sessions judge.

All the accused, including Honeypreet, appeared in the court of district and sessions judge on Thursday who transferred the case to additional sessions judge Neerja Kulwant Kalson court.

As per the police chargesheet, the conspiracy to spread violence in Panchkula was hatched at the dera headquarters by Honeypreet and the 45-member dera management committee.

Honeypreet, the adopted daughter of rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim, is charged with criminal conspiracy, sedition and is prime accused of violence in Panchkula on August 25 that were triggered after conviction of the dera chief.

Two of the 15 accused — Khairati Lal and Govind Insan — have already been granted bail while the bail of other accused, including Chamkaur Singh and Surender Dhiman, have been dismissed. Many of them have approached the Punjab and Haryana high court. Honeypreet, who is lodged in the Ambala Central Jail since her arrest in October, is yet to move her bail application.
