Parliamentary panel discusses security challenges faced by India

Security challenges being faced by the country in the naval sphere was discussed at a meeting of the Parliamentary consultative committee on Thursday.

A member of the panel raised the security situation in the South China Sea during the meeting which was chaired by Defence minister Arun Jaitley.

“A presentation was also given by the Vice-Chief of Naval staff to the MPs,” a member, who was present in the meeting, said.

There are total 19 members in the committee, besides Jaitley and Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre. Eleven are from the Lok Sabha and eight members from the Rajya Sabha.
