The BJP is scared only of his party because it is “honest and patriotic”, Kejriwal said while addressing AAP’s ‘Tiranga Yatra’ and a roadshow in Mehsana city.

Ahmedabad: People of Gujarat want a change as they are fed up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, claimed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, as he projected his party as an alternative in the assembly elections due later this year.

The BJP is scared only of his party because it is “honest and patriotic”, Kejriwal said while addressing AAP’s ‘Tiranga Yatra’ and a roadshow in Mehsana city.

“We interacted with thousands of people in the last few days and one thing is clear from that — the people of Gujarat want change. They are fed up with the Congress and the BJP,” said Kejriwal. “AAP has emerged as ray of hope for the people of Gujarat.”

AAP’s Tiranga Yatra was the convergence of the party’s Parivartan Yatras that touched all 182 constituencies of Gujarat from six different directions over a course of 20 days.

He claimed there was an atmosphere of fear in Gujarat.

“People of Gujarat should drop all their fears and side with AAP. Gujarat is ready for change now,” he said, adding that his party is the only “remedy” to the BJP.

Kejriwal alleged that Gujarat BJP president CR Paatil is “the real chief minister” who is running the state government while Bhupendra Patel is the CM only in name.

Paatil, in his recent address, had termed Kejriwal a “maha thug” (cheat) without taking his name.

Kejriwal dared Paatil to address him by his name. “I ask you Paatil saheb, why do you fear me? Why can’t you say my name?” he said.

“I want to ask the people of Gujarat do I look like a thug to you? I want to give world-class education to your children. Does that make me a thug? I want to provide best healthcare facilities, give free electricity and water and improve your lives. What right do they have to call me a thug?” he asked, adding that the BJP is scared of the “patriotic and honest” AAP.

The Gujarat BJP hit back at the Delhi chief minister, saying the AAP leader fears Paatil.

“The way in which Kejriwal spoke today clearly shows that he is afraid of Paatil,” said Yagnesh Dave, Gujarat BJP spokesperson.
