Rajinikanth discusses politics with TN guv
The actor said that he discussed politics during his meet but that he couldn’t divulge the details of the same.
Actor Rajinikanth on Monday held a meeting with Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan here, which he described as a courtesy call where they spoke for 25-30 minutes. The actor said that he discussed politics during his meet but that he couldn’t divulge the details of the same.

In 2021, Rajinikanth had a brief brush with politics but backed out ahead of the assembly elections here. The 71-year-old actor with a huge fan following across the globe had also announced his entry into politics in December 2017 and launched Rajini Makkal Mandram. In December 2020, however, the actor backtracked citing health reasons and Covid-19 pandemic.
His role was expected to shake up the state politics and he was also being courted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is trying to gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu where since 1967, the electorate has only favoured either the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
Meanwhile, the state government has been having an uneasy relationship with the governor over his delays in forwarding legislations passed by the cabinet and because of Ravi’s support from Union-government programmes such as the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Eligibility -cum Entrance Exam (NEET), which is being opposed the DMK-led Tamil Nadu.
After the meeting, Rajinikanth while addressing the reporters said that the governor has been in northern India all his life but he likes Tamil Nadu.
“More importantly he likes the integrity of Tamil Nadu people, their hard work and honesty. He told me that he is ready to do anything for the welfare of Tamil Nadu,” Rajinikanth said.
When asked if has plans to re-enter politics, Rajinikanth replied in the negative. The actor also added that the governor was drawn to the spiritual consciousness of the people here.
