Owner and principal of Shivalik Science School Bhagat Ram Saini, in his late 50s, died on the spot. His wife, who suffered serious injuries in the attack, was rushed to a nearby hospital from where doctors referred her to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

Baddi superintendent of police (SP) Rani Bindu Sachdeva said the assailants entered Saini’s house after breaking open the locks and attacked him and his wife with sharp-edged weapons and rods. While their daughter was not present at home at the time of the incident, the assailants tied up and locked their son in a room.

“A case of murder has been registered against unidentified people at the Nalagarh police station. A forensic team visited the crime spot to collect evidences,” said the SP.

Police have also obtained footage of a CCTV camera installed near the crime scene and it is being analysed, she said, adding that investigations were on and the attackers will be arrested soon.

Saini was accused of sexual harassment by a group of girls during a study tour in Odisha. The matter came to light after a Child Helpline received a call informing them that Saini had tried to force himself on some girls during the week-long tour.

He was later given a clean chit by the police as charges against him could not be proved.
