Though Shastri and his associates were unwilling to share details of what transpired in the meeting, Sadhna apparently wanted to know about Mulayam’s health.

The tussle in the Yadav clan had just begun when Sadhna met Pt Shastri, who said any tension in old age could be detrimental to the SP patriarch’s health.

Octogenarian Rajvaidya suggested truce was the only solution for the crisis.

He said, “Tension between Akhilesh and his uncle Shivpal is not good for the party and family. I appeal to both of them to end the acrimony for the sake of the SP chief.”

He added that Mulayam should understand that the young voters wanted a youth leader and should guide Akhilesh from time to time, but not in public.
