The Sonepur Police said the three school students were killed in the road accident minutes after they appeared for their annual examination and were leaving for home

Three class 6 students standing outside their school were killed when a speeding car crashed into the boundary wall in the western Odisha district of Sonepur on Wednesday, police said.

“Subrat Bhoi, Rajesh Pera, Raja Pera and Kapil Bhue, all students of Sardhapali Government Upper Primary School were standing near the gate of their school when a speeding car dashed against the boundary wall and ran over them. While Subrat, Rajesh and Raja died, Kapil is being treated in VIMSAR hospital in Burla town with serious injuries,” said Sonepur superintendent of police (SP) Amaresh Panda.

Police seized the car and arrested the driver.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief at the accident and announced an ex-gratia of 3 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased students.
