A sub-inspector, a constable, and a guard were injured when they were attacked with sharp weapons in Odisha’s Cuttack after a policeman questioned a young man and a woman about their identity, sparking an argument.

Police said the incident occurred near a pond inside the camp of the 6th Battalion of Odisha State Armed Police. They added that the young man and woman were sitting near a pond when they were questioned about their identity. The man argued with the policeman before calling his friends, who attacked the police personnel with sharp weapons, injuring three, said Cuttack deputy police commissioner Rishikesh Khilari.
The three, who suffered injuries to the head, back, and hands, were rushed to Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital, where their condition was reported to be stable.
Police said seven people have been detained in connection with the attack, and security was tightened across the battalion camp. All entry points have been sealed, and access is now being allowed only after strict identity verification.
