Officials said the Yamuna was flowing at 205.80 metres at the Old Yamuna Bridge (OYB) at 8 am, above the danger mark of 205.33 metres.

Heavy rainfall lashed Odisha amid the formation of a fresh low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, with the weather department warning of more showers in the next four days.

The IMD in a statement said: "Under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal at 5.30 am on September 2. It is likely to become more marked over the same region during the next 24 hours."

It also advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast till September 3.

The Punjab Government on Tuesday ordered the closure of all 43 centres associated with the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) until September 3 amid flood-like situations and inclement weather conditions in the state.

"In view of the inclement weather conditions and prevailing flood-like situations, all 43 Skill Development Centres-- running in association with PSDM-- will remain closed till September 3, 2025 to ensure the safety & well-being of all the stakeholders.CM Bhagwant Mann Govt is committed to ensure safety of people and their assets," Punjab Minister Aman Arora posted on X.

Due to heavy rainfall, several canals in Rajasthan's Dausa are overflowing onto the roads. District Collector and District Magistrate Devendra Kumar said, "Dausa received around 177 mm of rain yesterday... Haripura dam is overflowing and relief teams are on alert. Administrative officials are present on the spot... We urge residents to report any incident to the control room."

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge expressed condolences over the floods in Punjab and assured all possible support and assistance from the party.

"The Central Govt and the State should do more to alleviate the situation, including relief, rehabilitation and prompt medical assistance," Kharge wrote on X.

He further said, "The Central Govt must provide more funds to the flood affected states in North India, and a dedicated package according to the demands of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Haryana must be immediately provided."

"There should be no politicking in the wake of natural disasters and PM CARES funds must be utilised to ensure adequate compensation to the distressed people in all the flood-affected regions," he added.

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria held a meeting to take stock of the ongoing flood situation in the state. He is likely to visit the affected areas from September 2 to 4.

The weather department has forecast moderate rainfall in Delhi on Tuesday, with the capital recording a minimum temperature of 21.7 degrees Celsius, 4.8 degrees below normal.

The air quality index was recorded at 'satisfactory' category at 50 at 9 am.

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

Residential areas in Haryana's Ambala are facing major waterlogging issues after continuous rainfall battered the state on Monday.

"Due to the rain, landslides are happening everywhere... All these houses are kutcha and are built on elevated lands... Our team is on high alert, and I would also like to inform everyone that if they feel they are in a dangerous situation or suspect a problem, they should evacuate immediately and notify us so that we can take the necessary actions," Assistant Commandant (AC) Sandeep Kumar told news agency ANI.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Monday said that it will take at least 10 days to restore the Chamba-Bharmour road, which was severely damaged in the recent heavy rainfall.

"The Chamba-Bharmour road has been badly damaged. Even if the weather remains clear, it will take around ten days to reconnect it. Chamba district has suffered losses of over ₹1,100 crore due to the heavy rains," he told reporters.

Sena UBT leader Priyanka Chaturvedi slammed the "double engine" government of the BJP in Haryana for not being able to tackle the waterlogging issue after heavy rainfall pounded Gurugram, resulting in massive traffic jams across the city.
