Western Railway to restore Humsafar, double-decker trains from this week
Humsafar is a special class service comprising AC 3-tier coaches, which was announced in the 2016 Budget by then railway minister Suresh Prabhu.
The Western Railway on Sunday announced that it will restore special trains between Bandra Terminus and Gujarat's Jamnagar and Bhavnagar. These include the Humsafar Express and the double-decker trains. The announcement comes as the number of daily cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) fall across the country, leading to relaxations in many states.

The Western Railway said in a tweet that these trains will begin their service from the coming week. According to the scheduled posted by it, the Bandra Terminus-Jamnagar Humsafar Super fast special will start from July 24, while another pair of special superfast train between the two destinations will begin from Monday.
Apart from this, the Western Railway also said that it will restore trains between Bandra Terminus and Mahuva, and the Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad double-decker. While the double-decker train will start functioning from July 21, the other special pair of trains will start the journey from July 23.
"For the convenience of passengers, WR to run Indore-Veraval Mahamana Special train. WR also restores trains between Surat-Mahuva & Gandhinagar Capital-Indore. All these trains will run as fully reserved trains," the Western Railway said in a subsequent tweet.
Humsafar is a special class service comprising AC 3-tier coaches, which was announced in the 2016 Budget by then railway minister Suresh Prabhu. It is a special class train for overnight inter-city journey, with many additional facilities that are otherwise not available in normal AC 3-tier coaches.
The additional features include close circuit TV, GPS-based passenger information systems, fire and smoke detection and suppression systems and mobile/laptop charging points with every berth.
