India chose to bat against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test as Virat Kohli’s side kicked-off their full tour. However, even before the first ball was bowled to Shikhar Dhawan, he had to face a friendly bouncer from his teammate Yuvraj Singh. (India vs Sri Lanka updates)

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had posted pictures on their official Twitter handle of the players during a photoshoot and the opener, who had been brought in the side after Murali Vijay was ruled out with an injury, could be seen wearing slippers at the photoshoot. It was evident that the photoshoot wasn’t a full-length one and probably was only going to have their mug-shots but Yuvraj didn’t fail to take a friendly dig. (India vs Sri Lanka scorecard)

The middle-order batsman took to Twitter stating: “Jatt ji jutey ta pahlo @SDhawan25” while replying back to the official tweet posted by the BCCI as his followers retweeted it. However, it didn’t take Dhawan, who’s pretty active on the micro-blogging site to state back: “Lol pata nahi c ki pic poori paa den gey.. koi nahi chappal naal vi tor poori hai @YUVSTRONG12”.

The banter was all in good humour and followers of both the swashbuckling southpaws enjoyed the moment between the two. Dhawan, who had been going through a rough patch until a few months back, has been in great form in the last couple of months. He had a consistent run in the Indian Premier League before following it up with an even better show at the Champions Trophy, where India lost to arch-rivals Pakistan in the final.

India are favourites to dominate the tour that will see them play three Tests, five ODIs and a one off T20I against the island nation. Virat Kohli’s side are currently No 1 in the Test rankings and are on a brilliant run, having lost just one match (against Australia in Pune) of their past 17 games.
