A record of over 1.50 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine during the first five days of Navratra which commenced on October 8.
There has been an increase of nearly 20,000 pilgrims this year as against 1.30 lakh pilgrims, who had visited the shrine during the corresponding period of Navratras in 2009, officials said on Wednesday.
They said that over 66 lakh pilgrims from different parts of the country have also performed darshan at the shrine till date since the beginning of this year, which is more than 1.2 lakh as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Meanwhile, Navratra festival 2010 being organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with various local organisations at Katra-the base camp to holy shrine, has entered its sixth day on Wednesday.
Various religious processions have been taken out in Katra town during these days, they said, adding, All India Devotional Song competition being organized at Yog Ashram at Katra is a part of the Navratra festival.
