A study conducted on the traffic flow along the road through DLF Cybercity shows that, at peak hours, vehicles take around 45 minutes to cover each kilometre.

DLF Cybercity consists a plethora of highrises, housing a host of top corporate firms. The road is so narrow and the traffic so thick that jams are endemic. The study estimates that each vehicle passing through that stretch during peak hours spends 90 minutes in a traffic wasting 1.25 litres of petrol. The total cost of the petrol wasted per day is a staggering Rs 17 lakh (Rs 170,000).

The study was conducted over a fortnight by the Gurgaon Action Task Force (GATF), a joint initiative of a number of companies that have their offices in DLF Cybercity, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Sapient and Corporate Executive Board.

“The area has been transformed from corporate hub to corporate mess,” said Pankaj Sharma, of the Centre for Transforming India, which helped conduct the study.

“We need alternative routes for the traffic or else nothing will improve,” said Satender K. Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

"We’ll keep bringing the problems of office goers here to the authorities’ attention,” said Shauvik Sen, managing director of Corporate Executive Board and member of GATF.
