“Jaswinder Singh was standing under a tree with the sharp edged weapon. As Balkar neared him, he attacked the boy with the dagger and decapitated him,” said the SHO.

The accused tried to run away but the villagers caught hold of him and handed it over to the police.

When asked why he had killed the boy, Jaswinder said he had been taken over by a supernatural power which compelled him to claim the boy’s life.
