BSF Inspector General SK Dutta said the 13 included four women and two children. They gave themselves up at Hiracherra in North Tripura district.

They crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border after leaving their camps at Panaipunji in Bangladesh's Moulavaibazar district and surrendered to the officer-in-charge of Hiracherra border outpost, Dutta said.

He said the militants told the BSF that they were frustrated with life on the run and wanted to return to the mainstream.
