130 tourists rescued from Leh-Manali road after rain causes landslides

At least 130 stranded tourists were rescued after a culvert was washed away and landslides blocked a stretch of the Leh-Manali road in the Ladakh region following heavy rain on Wednesday night.

At least 130 stranded tourists were rescued after a culvert was washed away and landslides blocked a stretch of the Leh-Manali road in the Ladakh region following heavy rain on Wednesday night.

“The tourists trekked 15 km to a bus point from where district administration officials and a police team escorted them,” a Srinagar-based police spokesman said on Thursday.

The Kashmir region has been witnessing torrential rains since Wednesday night.

Several areas in Srinagar are inundated and the water level in rivers has seen a surge.
