15 die in Morena bus blast

AT LEAST 15 persons died and 25 sustained burns when in an LPG cylinder kept in a passenger bus exploded. The bus was on its way to Sabalgarh from Morena. The accident took place in the evening at Kailaras bus stand under Morena district, some 55 km away from district headquarter.

AT LEAST 15 persons died and 25 sustained burns when in an LPG cylinder kept in a passenger bus exploded. The bus was on its way to Sabalgarh from Morena. The accident took place in the evening at Kailaras bus stand under Morena district, some 55 km away from district headquarter.

The total number of passengers travelling in the bus could not be ascertained immediately owing to chaotic situation prevalent there. Meanwhile, the local crowd went on rampage in view of delayed relief works, sources said. Unconfirmed reports suggested that police resorted to mild lathi charge and fired in air in order to control the frenzied crowed.

The LPG cylinder exploded possibly because coming in contact with lighted cigarette or bidi butt thrown by some passenger. The vehicle was owned by Chambal Bus Service.

Sobaran Singh of Morena owns Chambal Bus Service and this was the last bus from Morena to Sabalgarh via Kailaras. Sources said that fire tankers from Morena including additional security forces have been sent to control the situation there.

Injured have been referred to Morena and Gwalior hospital for treatment.
