15 feared drowned in boat capsize in UP

At least 15 people were feared drowned when a boat capsized in the river Sohali in Lakhinpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh.

At least 15 people were feared drowned when a boat capsized on Monday in the river Sohali in Lakhinpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred this afternoon in Nigohi police circle area of the district, police said.

According to Superintendent of Police Rambharose, three bodies were recovered from the river while 12 people were still missing.

He said that the exact number of people travelling in the boat could not be ascertained yet.

Senior officials have reached the spot to supervise rescue operation.
