The pilgrims, including 293 women, 54 children and 188 sadhus, left in a fleet of 46 vehicles under proper security arrangements from the base camp of MAM stadium in Jammu, officials said.

They said national highway was closed for over four hours from 5 am due to landslides near Ramban.

However, traffic was restored on the highway after the blockage was removed by Border Road Organisation, which maintains the national highway, officials said.

The cavalcade of vehicles carrying pilgrims had already reached Batote by 9 am and was proceeding towards the Valley, they said, adding the devotees are expected to reach their respective destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam by Thursday evening.
