To prevent a repeat of last year when 18 people lost their lives on the expressway in fog-related accidents, the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway firm has decided to launch a drive ‘Beat Fog Drive Safely’ from Thursday.

“We will launch a safety awareness drive at the Delhi-Gurgaon border toll plaza and give people tips on driving in fog. The traffic police and NHAI senior officials along with RWAs will also participate in the campaign. We will also stick reflective tapes on vehicles that do not have it as per the guidelines. This step will certainly help avoid accidents,” said a spokesperson of Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited.

The expressway operator has also installed reflective tapes, cat's eye devices, electronic signals, fog lights and marked lanes to avoid mishap ahead of the foggy season.

“We have increased the frequency of patrolling at night and early morning. At present, a patrolling team checks the entire stretch every 30 minutes. Our teams remove stationary vehicles from the expressway,” said the spokesperson.
