The judicial magistrate Israr Khokher admitted the petition and issued interim order to Jawahar Nagar police station asking it to provide protection to the victim and ensure she was not harassed or tortured by the four accused, which included her husband, said counsel AK Jain on behalf of Women NGOs including the People's Union for Civil Liberty.

The victim who is married to one Heera Lal Chouhan Kotputali in 2002 had since then been allegedly harassed and beaten for dowry, cash and to produce a male heir, Jain said.

The case filed under Section 12 of the Act urged the court to provide her with protection and maintenance as well as shelter and medical facilities, Jain said.

The next hearing of the case would be held on Monday, he said.
