Two more persons died of rain-related diseases in Mumbai on Sunday, taking the toll to 58 since July 1, health officials said.
One person died of suspected leptospirosis and another of fever in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run hospitals since Saturday, they said.
There were as many as 354 admissions in hospitals in Mumbai since Saturday for suspected dengue, malaria, leptospirosis and gastro-enteritis, a BMC statement said.
Private hospitals in Mumbai too have reported a total of six cases of leptospirosis and dengue each since July 5, two of which resulted in deaths.
BMC medical teams continued to monitor vulnerable areas with medical teams being specially constituted by the municipal medical colleges and public health department.
These teams visited vulnerable areas with diagnostic equipment and adequate stocks of medicines, and attended to more than 5,000 patients.
The city has been hit by heavy rains in the past two days and Met department officials said the spell would continue till Monday.
