2 survivors of Mangalore air crash discharged from hospital

The burn scar on Pradeep Kotian’s face may fade away in a couple of months, but the trauma of the air crash will probably haunt Kotian throughout his life.
Garlands, hugs, tears of gratitude and more surrounded the air as two of the survivors of the Air India Express crash walked out of the city’s SCS hospital on Tuesday. Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation Rajini Dugganna along with the local MLA N. Yogish Bhat visited the hospital and honoured Pradeep, Mayankutty and Krishnan with garlands.
“I can now be part of my brother’s wedding. It is my second birth and I will make the best use of it,’’ Kotian said. “However, I can never forget the cries of my fellow passengers, though I consider myself lucky to have survived,” he added as he walked out of the hospital with his brother and other relatives.
Another survivor Mayankutty’s discharge was marked by his words of gratitude for the doctors, nursing staff and the Angels of Air India that helped save his life. Many of the family members drove down from Kerala to receive Kutty.
Managing Director of SSC Hospital Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, who has been taking care of the three patients at his hospital heaved a sigh of relief as he signed the discharge papers of the two.
Dr Sorake recalled the critical hour when the three were brought to the hospital.
He complimented his staff for quick action and care taken in helping the survivors of the crash recover fast. He said another survivor Krishnan will also be discharged soon.
