About 20 people, including some firemen, were injured in a blaze in a chemical factory on National Highway eight in Surat, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday in a chemical factory located near Palsana village and was caused by a gas leak inside the unit.
About 20 people, including 14 workers, suffered burn injuries and breathing trouble, police said. The gas from the plant also affected firemen, six of whom had to be taken to hospital for treatment, they said.
The injured are being treated in Mahavir hospital and Girish group of hospitals in Surat.
The fire was brought under control after 12 hours.
