22 dead, 24 hurt as bus falls into river in Nepal

Passengers injured in the mishap, eight of whom were serious, were taken to the Banepa Hospital, police added.

At least 22 people were killed and 24 others were hurt on Sunday when a bus carrying passengers from Kathmandu to Jalbire skidded off a mountain road and fell into a river in northeast Nepal's Sindhpalchowk district, police said.

The accident occurred at 10.45 am near Fulping Hills in the district, about 75 kilometres from Kathmandu.

The 24 passengers injured in the mishap, eight of whom were serious, were taken to the Banepa Hospital, police added.

Police and Army officials were called in for rescue efforts.
