The rape of the minor girl, who hails from Lucknow, came to light after she cried for help in the park behind the DC's residence in Ludhiana.

The three policemen overpowered the girl, who had come to meet her boyfriend in the park, and raped her. They shooed away her friend.

People who heard her cries took her to the home of the DC from where she was taken to a hospital for medical examination.

"The medical examination of the girl confirmed that she has been raped," Ludhiana district police chief RK Jaswal admitted.

"We have dismissed three personnel," Ludhiana range deputy inspector general (DIG) Ishwar Singh said.

Those who were dismissed included assistant sub inspector Inderjit Singh and two other personnel Hari Om and Gurmail Singh. All three were on police control room duty when they saw the girl in the park and overpowered her.
