5 dead, 4 injured after Meerut house collapses due to heavy rainfall

Five people have died and a further 6 critically injured after a building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut due to heavy rainfall in the region.

The house belonged to Vijaypal Singh, a farmer, who was sleeping along with the rest of his 8-member family when it collapsed.

Singh, his daughter-in-law Suman, his grandchildren Mayank and Khushi as well as another family member all died. Suman was pregnant

The double-storey building collapsed on Sunday morning after more than a day of continuous rainfall in Uttar Pradesh.

Villagers rescued the surviving members of the family from the rubble, one of whom is currently in a critical condition.
