The dead in the Sunday night accident included three pilgrims and a mechanic of the truck.

The devotees were on their way back to Nepal after visiting the Jai Gurudev Ashram in Mathura when the accident took place.

The truck was parked on the road for over 24 hours with its headlights switched off as repair work was underway. A mechanic who was working under the truck when the accident occurred was killed.

It took the police over two hours to extricate the bodies from the entangled wreckage of the two vehicles.

At least 32 pilgrims were wounded and were admitted to the SN Medical College and Heritage Hospital in Agra.

Police said the Nepalis had arrived in Mathura on November 25.
