His parents lodged a complaint on Thursday night at Malad police station.

Sagar Mastakar, a family friend of the victim said, “The dogs must have been irked due to their confinement.”
Witnesses said he was crying for help. The dog owner A. Manjrekar, and the boy’s father Dilip came rushing and managed to shoo away the dogs and took him to a local hospital.

But when his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Holy Spirit hospital. “We lodged the complaint late as earlier Manjrekar assured us of footing the medical expenses. Later he backtracked,” added Mastakar.

“Action will be taken accordingly,” said Senior Inspector Maruti Rathod. The police are probing whether Manjrekar possesses the license to keep pets.
