40 bonded labourers rescued in Chhattisgarh

Three people were arrested and 40 tribals allegedly being taken away to work as bonded labourers were rescued in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said on Wednesday.

Three people were arrested and 40 tribals allegedly being taken away to work as bonded labourers were rescued in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the bus with 40 tribals on board was stopped at Sukma area of the district.

Upon interrogation, the tribals said they were being forcefully taken to work as labourers in a project in Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh, an official said.
