5,000 fake CDs seized in Varanasi

Police has seized 5,000 pirated and fake CDs and arrested one person in this connection in Varanasi.

Police on Tuesday seized 5,000 pirated and fake CDs and arrested one person in this connection from Jatipuri locality of the city, police said.

Acting on a tip off, police raided a house in the locality and recovered the CDs worth about Rs one lakh and arrested one person, identified as Vipul in this connection, police said adding equipments used for preparing CDs were also seized.

The arrested person admitted during interrogation that he was engaged in this trade for the past three years and was supplying CDs to shopkeepers in the markets of eastern Uttar Pradesh, police added.
