“Six persons belonging to a particular political party were arrested today from the Lal Chowk area for violating the prohibitory orders,” a police spokesperson said. The police have also confiscated some posters from their possession.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, launched the Rashtriya Ekta Yatra in Kolkata on January 12, which is to culminate with the flag hoisting at the Lal Chowk on Republic day.

BJP’s Kashmir president Sofi Yousuf said they were preparing to welcome Anurag Thakur, national president of the BJYM, who is supposed to hoist the flag.
