Six people were injured when an underground gas pipe of the Greater Calcutta Gas Supply exploded at Tala area near the Kolkata railway station early on Saturday.

Though the cause of the explosion was not yet known, there was a gas leakage in the area for sometime before it, police said.
The company's officials rushed to the site and plugged the leak.
The six were waiting at the bus stop when the pipe running near it exploded and the pipe pieces hit them, the police said adding there was no cause for panic.
Police was deployed in the area and GCGS officials visited the spot to investigate the explosion.
