Mamit District Deputy Commissioner Nghaklianmawia said that at least 550 houses were damaged in Mamit town alone while 300 more houses were damaged in nearby Kawrthah village.

"The hail stones were as big as eggs, causing damages to houses with GCI roofs and vehicles parked on the roadsides", a local journalist from Mamit said.

Out of the 550 houses damaged in Mamit town, 172 were declared as inhabitable for the nights and the victim families were provided with silpoulines by the district administration.

There were, however, no reports of loss of human lives of people being injured.
