95 in fray in Sikkim

The 95 candidate whose fate will be decided by a total of 2,81,1629 voters, comprise 91 nominees for the 32 Assembly seats.

Three nominees withdrew their candidatures in Sikkim on Monday leaving altogether 95 nominees in the fray for the coming simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in this hill state on May 10, election office sources said.

The 95 candidate whose fate will be decided by a total of 2,81,1629 voters, comprise 91 nominees for the 32 Assembly seats and four for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state.

The three nominees who withdrew are Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad's Bhim Kumar Rai who withdrew from the Melli Assembly constituency in the south district and Independents Dilli Ram Sharma and Jeevan Lamithaney who quit the fray in central Pendam and Khamdong Assembly constituencies respectively of the east district.

With SHRP's Bhim Kumar Rai withdrawing from the fray in Melli, the ruling SDF goes uopposed to the polls from a total of four Assembly constituencies including Melli, Damthang, Wok and Kabi Tingda.
