Northeast India is where Southeast Asia begins. The vast plains of the South Asian landmass give way to unending rows of green hills where myriad tribes have lived since times immemorial. The features here are Mongoloid, the languages derived from roots other than Sanskrit.

The geographical and cultural closeness of Northeast India to Southeast Asia will be on view at the Indira Gandhi National Centre in Delhi next week. Cultural troupes from the Northeastern states and Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia will put up shows. In addition, for those inclined to shop, there will also be a crafts bazaar. And a food court with food from the Northeast.

The event is on from March 17 -20 at IGNCA, Rajendra Prasad Road.
