Mandal was produced before the court of CBI Special Magistrate Sapna Mishra at Ghaziabad where the CBI counsel said there is no further need of police remand of the accused.

CBI public prosecutor Suresh Batra said that reports of certain tests conducted on the accused have been received while the results of the others are awaited.

Defence lawyer Sanjay Tyagi requested the court to send the accused on a three-day judicial custody, as the hearing of a previous application was scheduled for July 25. In his application, Tyagi claimed that the CBI had pressurised Mandal to make statements against Krishna and Rajkumar, saying the two were involved in the murders.

Tyagi told the court that the CBI has not been able to produce any evidence against the accused and, if any, the agency should produce it before the court.
