Though he was originally slated to play the character of Veeru in Ram Gopal Varma’s interpretation of the hit film Sholay, Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in the film, but as a rather unexpected character.

He will be stepping in to Jalal Aga’s dancing shoes and perform the Mehbooba song in Ram Gopal Verma Ke Sholay. Urmila Matondkar will be the main ‘item number’ on the track composed by Ganesh Hegde.

Though Abhishek and father Amitabh have appeared in songs in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Bunty Aur Babli before, this time Bachchan senior, who plays Gabbar Singh, will be an observer, a member of the audience.

Speaking on the track and the addition of Abhishek to the song, Varma said, “He volunteered himself as he was very excited about the track. The primary difference between the other songs with father and son, and this one, is that in those songs they were interacting with each other greatly but here they might not even look at each other.”

The look and other details of the song are being finalised. Incidentally, Veeru’s part is now being played by Ajay Devgan.
