Though there were reports of security cover for carrying the accused up to Varanasi from where the team was scheduled to fly to Mumbai, there was no confirmation whether he was flown or travelled by train as the officials avoided giving details of the travel plan due to security reasons.
It is to be noted that the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Azamgarh, on Friday had allowed Mumbai police to take in its custody underworld don Abu Salem’s aide Mohammad Mushir Ashraf, an accused in the murder of Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala's secretary.
The court had also directed superintendent of police, Azamgarh, to provide security escort to the Mumbai police team carrying the murder accused.
