Abusive MLA audio clip goes viral
An audio clip allegedly featuring the BJP’s Bundi MLA Ashok Dogra has surfaced in which he is heard abusing a power utility official for disconnecting illegal connections in an unauthorised residential colony built on forest land.
As the clip got widely shared on social media, Dogra alleged the official did not attend his calls meant to address the public issue of power supply in the said colony.
The official Gopalkrishna Yadav, an assistant engineer of Jaipur Vidhyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL), Kota, said he did not ignore the MLA’s calls and only did his duty, adding that he would seek police protection against possible harm.
In the clip, the MLA is allegedly heard abusing Yadav over the power connections disconnected on January 23 in Prem Nagar residential colony built on forest land.
The MLA is allegedly heard threatening Yadav that his clothes would be torn if the issue was not resolved while the official is heard explaining the legal position that such illicit connections cannot be restored.
When HT contacted the MLA, Ashok Dogra, he said there were around 300 houses in Prem Nagar located on forest land for the past decade and the residents had put up files before the electricity department for regularising their connections but the supply was abruptly cut on January 23.
But Yadav said it was unfortunate he had to face pressure from the public representative against checking power theft. “How can we work freely? I am not going to office in Bundi out of fear.” HTC
