One of the accused in the gang rape of the American student from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Dev Colabawala (21), filed an application seeking bail in the sessions court on Monday.

However, he withdrew it after the prosecution stated that the Trombay police would file the chargesheet in the case in next 15 days.

Colabawala, along with Vinamr Soni (21), Anish Borkatki (21), Kundanraj Borgohain (22), Harshvardhan Kumar Yadav (22) and Jaskaran Singh Bhullar (20), has been accused of gang raping the 23-year-old American student on April 14.

The bail application filed by his lawyer D.U. Mirajkar, stated that the first information report did not attribute any role to Colabawala.

He also said that after entering the flat he had fallen asleep, as he was drunk.

Mirajkar argued that the forensic examination results did not indicate any intercourse between the victim and Colabawala.

Public Prosecutor RV Kini argued that certain reports from the forensic departments are yet to come.
